1. If you want eternal life you have to get out of the way v.22-31
Genesis 3:18-19, “Cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
2. If you want eternal life you have to accept the words of Christ as truth v.32-35
Titus 3:4, “When God our savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Galatians 2:15, “Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by works of the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because of works of the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by works of the law.”
3. If you want eternal life you have to believe in Jesus alone v.36

1. Eternal life means entering into the presence of God v.1-3
2. In order to have eternal life you must be born again v.3
3. Being born again means spiritual regeneration v.4-7
Ephesians 2:1-3, “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”
Titus 3:5-6, “God saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
4. Being born again goes contrary to our thinking and beliefs v.7-12

So in order to draw near…
1. Have a passion for God’s house v.13-17
2. Know the power of his resurrection v.18-22
Why do we need to know the power of Jesus’ resurrection?
1. It overcame the power of spiritual death.
Revelations 20:6, “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power.”
2. It assures our faith and salvation.
1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”
3. It’s an anchor for my faith and hope
1 Peter 1:21, “Through Christ you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”

How do you see Jesus?
1. Do you see Jesus as savior v.29
Romans 10:9-10, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
2. Do you see Jesus as the greatest v.30-31
3. Do you see Jesus as the one who gives the spirit to empower and assure us v.32-33
Ephesians 1:13, In Christ you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it.”
