So in order to draw near…
1. Have a passion for God’s house v.13-17
2. Know the power of his resurrection v.18-22
Why do we need to know the power of Jesus’ resurrection?
1. It overcame the power of spiritual death.
Revelations 20:6, “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power.”
2. It assures our faith and salvation.
1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.”
3. It’s an anchor for my faith and hope
1 Peter 1:21, “Through Christ you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”

1. Do you see Jesus as savior v.29
Romans 10:9-10, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
2. Do you see Jesus as the greatest v.30-31
3. Do you see Jesus as the one who gives the spirit to empower and assure us v.32-33
Ephesians 1:13, In Christ you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it.”

1. Accept your calling to be a witness v.1
Luke 1:17, “He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Luke 3:3, “The word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.”
2. It’s not about who I am but WHO is in me v.19-22
3. Be a voice
Romans 10:13-14, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”
4. Realize the urgency of the second coming of Christ v.24-28

1. Jesus is the revealer of God v.1-2
Revelation 19:11-13, Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.”

How to face trials patiently…
1. Set my heart on the fact that Jesus is coming back v.7-8
2 Peter 3:3-4, “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:8-9, “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness.”
2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
2. Control my emotions so my words won’t be hurtful v.9,12
3. Shift my attention from myself to the lives of God’s servants v.10-11
Romans 15:4, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
4. Remind myself about the sovereignty and character of God v.11
