Matthew 19:3-6

Why we don’t have to be troubled…
1.  Because the Lord is trustworthy v.1
2.  Because this life is temporary v.2-6
2 Corinthians 4:16-18, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
3.  Because of the totality of the relationship v.7-11
4.  Because the Lord is trustworthy v.12-14

John 13: 31-38

To be spiritually clean I must…
1.  Initially be forgiven of sin and saved which brings about a union with Christ
Isaiah 64:6, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”
2.  Continually confess sin in order to maintain communion with Christ
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Psalm 32:5, “I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity;                   I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.”

Jesus' final words tell us that…
1.  He and God are inseparable  v.44-45
2.  He wants to shine truth into the darkness v.46
3.  He came to save us from the darkness of sin v.47
4.  He gives us the option to accept him and his word v.48-50

3.  Confrontation of timing v.27-36
