1.  Jesus comes after for us v.35 
Isaiah 53:6, “We all like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way.”
2.  Jesus extends an invitation to believe v.35-38
3.  Jesus desires to remove spiritual blindness v.39-41
4.  Jesus brings inevitable judgment to those who say no v.39
John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

   1. Nehemiah prayed with confidence and waited upon the Lord.

   3. Nehemiah claimed God’s promises.

1.  The benchmark: To continue and remain steadfast in loving obedience to God’s word v.31
2 John 9, “Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”
2.  The benefit: What I come to know from abiding in God’s word
1.  I will know absolute truth v.32
2.  I know I am free v.32-34
Ephesians 2:1-3, “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience, among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath.”

4.  Trust Jesus because of the important truth’s he says v.25-28
5.  Trust Jesus because he’s always with you v.29

1.  The light of Christ shines and overcomes the darkness of the world v.12
2.  The light of Christ shines upon everyone but must be accepted v.12
2 Corinthians 4:4-6, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.  For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord.   For God made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”
3.  The light of Christ shines through the truth of his word v.13-18
4.  The light of Christ shines so I can have a close relationship with God v.19

* Jesus exposes the true motivations of the heart. (v1-7)
* The Pharisees publicly tested Jesus. 

      * The law was given to reveal sin and we must be condemned by the law before we can be cleansed by God’s grace…There must be conviction before there can be conversion.

      * Jer 17:13- those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth
      * Ex 23:1- Do not be a malicious witness
